Secrets Revealed - 3 !

How often do you meditate? Once in a day? Once in a week? Once in a month? or Once in a year? Do you know how much power it has ?

The maker of modern India "Swami Vivekananda" comes into our mind as we hear the word Meditation. He may be called as The Lord Of Meditation. One should learn from him, why should we meditate, when to meditate & how to meditate. Everyone knows that, he had meditated of uncountable hours & had gained powers mentally as well as physically. But what about us ? Why can't we ? Are there any timings for meditation ? But how ? All these questions raised in my mind. So I thought of linking meditation in our Hindu rituals ( or pooja ), if any that had been made by our ancestors. Finally succeeded to a certain level in revealing the secrets behind it.

Its "SANDHYAVANDANAM" performed three times a day - Morning for expiating the sins committed in the night, afternoon for the sins between, & evening for the sins between afternoon & evening. It is done in the praise of Sun God & Gayatri Devi. The Sandhyavandanam is held to be of primary importance in Hinduism. It is done at aiming to keep oneself mentally & physically pure. One part of Sandhayavandanam teaches about breathing i.e. Pranayama & the other important part teaches about meditation i.e. Gayatri Japa. As though the pranayama has given much importance because of yoga, Gayatri mantra also plays an important role here.

The Gayatri mantra was discovered by sage Vishwamitra. The Gayatri mantra is found in all the four Vedas. One should chant this mantra at least 108 times ( one mala ) during Sandhyavandanam. This may take nearly half an hour if it is chanted with proper pronunciation. It is done in a disciplined manner such that, sitting in padmasan, closing eyes & chanting gayatri mantra for long time in his mind but not hearing to anyone except him & not talking to anyone in the middle. This is the only technique that resembles meditation.

But why should we chant mantra, instead of only meditation ? This question would have been raised in your mind by now. No person will sit quite at a unique place for just 5 minutes. He desires to be busy all the time. Just try in your home by sitting for more than 15 minutes by just closing your eyes & doing nothing. It is very difficult to do like that till you control your fickle mind. It needs certain practice which has to be done daily. Hence our ancestors have made such a prayer to make oneself sit quite in a unique place for hours together. This type of meditation is done to keep ones mind in a relaxed position or tension free for sometime so that he will be in a delighted manner all day. But, do you know why rishis have selected the gayatri mantra specifically which goes like this:
"Om bhur bhuvah swaha, Tat savitur varenyam, Bhargo devasya dheemahi, Dhiyo yo na prachodayat"

The literal meaning of this mantra, also called Devamatha, is:

“Bowing before you heaving Om, the Pranava (the eternal) form,
I meditate on the Savita (the Sun God) who illuminates the earth,
the heaven and the world of manes (departed souls). Let that
master brain inspire my intellect
”.

Because it has the Power. Yes ! The words we pronounce has the power of vibration which links our brain. Various scientific researches have revealed that the Gayatri Mantra rouses the brain. Regular chanting of this mantra generates continuous vibrations in the human brain that keeps the person vigilant and which in turn, lead all his endeavours to guaranteed success. One who chants this mantra with proper pronunciation undergoes positive changes and becomes morally and physically strong enough to overcome all difficulties in life. After knowing all the power of Gayatri mantra, why do you wait. Start today itself & make your future "Bright".
